A Journey That Is Part of the Experience

You can easily reach the centre of Durrës by local bus from Golem. The journey itself is a small adventure and a wonderful opportunity to experience the everyday lives of local people. From the bus window, you can watch the busy streets, small shops, coastline and everyday Balkan life pass by.

These ordinary moments often become some of the most treasured memories of the entire holiday.

History at Every Turn

Durrës is one of the oldest cities in Albania, and its history can be felt almost everywhere. Over the centuries, Greeks, Romans, Venetians and Ottomans lived here, each leaving their mark on the city.

The city's most famous landmark is its Roman amphitheatre – the largest in the Balkans. As you walk among the ancient stone walls, it is easy to imagine the atmosphere of the gladiatorial contests held here almost two thousand years ago.

The Promenade, Cafés and Authentic Balkan Atmosphere

After exploring the historic centre, you can head to the long seafront promenade. Durrës is lively from morning until evening, filled with the aromas of fresh coffee, ice cream and seafood, while the distinctive buzz of Balkan life can be heard from every café.

How Does the Bus Journey Work?

The journey from Golem to the centre of Durrës is simple, affordable and direct.

The bus takes you to the final stop in the city centre, so you do not need to worry about where to get off. The fare is 100 ALL per person and is paid directly to the conductor on the bus. We recommend having some small change ready to make the process quicker and easier.

And the Journey Back?

The return bus to Golem departs from the same place where you get off. Simply look for a bus marked "Durrës–Golem" and board.

Bear in mind that timetables here work in a rather relaxed Balkan way. Buses run regularly, but the exact departure times are more of a guide. Even this is part of the local atmosphere and the charm of travelling around Albania.

You will certainly make it back to the apartment – perhaps a little more tired, but filled with new experiences, stories and authentic moments that no ordinary organised trip could offer.
