Albanian beaches offer two ways to enjoy a relaxing day by the sea. You can rent a prepared set of sun loungers and a parasol or choose a public section of the beach and bring your own equipment.

How Much Do Sun Loungers Cost in Golem?

Prices vary between individual beaches. In Golem, a standard set usually costs approximately 700–1,000 LEK, or around €7–€10 per day.

The price normally includes:

• two sun loungers,
• one parasol,
• use of the set for the entire day.

Prices may be higher during the peak season, particularly for loungers in the first row by the sea or in beach areas managed by luxury hotels and beach clubs. Larger beach beds, shaded cabanas and places with waiter service may also cost more.

How Do You Pay for Sun Loungers?

Sun loungers and parasols are usually managed by nearby hotels, restaurants or licensed beach operators. A member of staff normally walks between the loungers during the morning and collects the payment directly on the beach.

Payment is most commonly made in cash in Albanian lek. Some places may also accept euros or card payments, but you should not rely on this. It is therefore useful to carry some smaller banknotes.

You usually do not need to look for anyone when you arrive. A member of staff will normally come to you.

Are There Free Public Beaches in Albania?

Yes. In addition to paid beach areas, Albania also has public sections where you can lay down your own towel and bring your own parasol or sun lounger.

However, there is no fixed rule requiring a public beach every 300 metres. The location and size of public beach areas are determined by local beach plans and individual municipalities. Some public sections are spacious, while others may be smaller and fill up quickly during the peak summer season.

Since 2026, Albanian regulations have also recognised municipally managed public beaches where fees may be charged for certain services. The term "public beach" therefore does not always mean that sun loungers are provided free of charge. Public access to the beach and the sea must nevertheless be maintained.

What Has Changed on Albanian Beaches?

In the past, large parts of the coastline were sometimes occupied by sun loungers operated by bars, restaurants and other businesses that did not always have the necessary permits. This occasionally left visitors with very little space for their own towels or parasols.

Stricter rules for operating managed beach areas came into effect for the 2025 season. Priority was given mainly to registered accommodation providers, particularly hotels located directly on or close to the coast. The size of each licensed beach area should also correspond to the capacity of the accommodation provider.

The changes did not bring a complete end to paid or privately managed beach areas. Their main purpose was to prevent the unauthorised occupation of the coastline, improve beach management and leave more space available to the public.

From 2026, municipalities may also set maximum prices for the rental of sun loungers and parasols in individual coastal areas.

• Do not place your own equipment among the loungers in a marked paid area.
• Always take your rubbish with you when leaving the beach.
